Renovation of Classrooms and Enhancement of Technology

Renovating existing general-use learning spaces—classrooms, studios, and public spaces—will encourage and expand active and collaborative learning and technologically enhanced pedagogies.

To enrich and deepen student learning, SCU will renovate 45 learning spaces. Upgraded classrooms will provide flexible learning spaces with work surfaces appropriate for different disciplines and with furniture and technologies that support active and collaborative learning. Collaborative tools, such as writable walls and screen sharing, will promote peer-to-peer learning. Increased internet capacity and electronic resources will facilitate multimedia delivery of content and support project-based learning. As learning spaces are upgraded, SCU will strategically support and incentivize curriculum redesign to promote innovative use of the learning spaces and educational technology.
